Private Label · Japan
India-made, OEKO-TEX & GOTS certified bath mats and shower curtains for Japanese department stores, home-specialty chains and online home brands and hospitality (including ryokan) operators.
Trade Partner
Abhi Home has manufactured home textiles in India since 1965. We supply bath mats and shower curtains to Japan retailers, importers and hospitality groups under their own private-label programmes — from single-design repeat orders to 20-SKU seasonal ranges. Our facility is OEKO-TEX Standard 100, GOTS, GRS and BCI certified, and we hold Sedex, SA 8000 and BSCI social audits against the compliance frameworks typically required by Japanese department stores, home-specialty chains, online home brands and hospitality (including ryokan) operators.

Japan Trade Logistics
We despatch out of Mundra and Nhava Sheva (JNPT), India's two largest container ports, with direct and transhipment sailings to Japan on Maersk, MSC, CMA CGM, ONE and Hapag-Lloyd services.
Tokyo and Yokohama for Kanto-region DCs, Osaka and Kobe for Kansai-region distribution. Fast sailings from Mundra/Nhava Sheva via Singapore transhipment are typical.
15–22 days ocean transit plus customs. Total order-to-DC lead time is typically 70–90 days from confirmation, depending on fabric development and sampling approval.
JIS L-aligned fibre composition and care-labelling conformity, Household Goods Quality Labelling Law compliance in Japanese, SEDEX SMETA audit reports, AQL 1.5 inspection reports (tighter than the AQL 2.5 global default), and OEKO-TEX certificates of compliance per shipment.
Japan Trade Intelligence
Beyond the generic sourcing process, successful India-to-Japan bath mat and shower curtain programmes hinge on four country-specific realities: the India–Japan shipping corridor, the duty and trade-agreement landscape, Japan-specific textile and product compliance, and Japan retailer commit cycles. Each is covered below.
Trade Lane
Tokyo and Yokohama are the principal Kanto-region entry ports — direct sailings from Mundra or Nhava Sheva via Singapore transhipment typically run 20–24 days on Ocean Network Express (ONE, the Japanese-consortium line), Maersk and MSC services. Osaka and Kobe handle Kansai-region distribution. Japanese port clearance is highly efficient — cargo typically releases within 24 hours of vessel discharge with correct documentation.
Duty & FTA
Bath mats classify under HS 5703 (tufted carpets) or HS 6304 (other furnishing articles, woven); shower curtains classify under HS 6303 (curtains and interior blinds). The India–Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), in force since August 2011, provides preferential tariff treatment for Indian-origin home textiles — most HS Chapter 63 lines have been moving toward zero duty over the CEPA phase-down schedule. Importers must hold a Certificate of Origin (Form AI) to claim the preferential rate. Japanese consumption tax (10%) applies on CIF value plus duty. Japan's NACCS electronic customs system handles declarations.
Compliance
Two Japanese frameworks are primary. The Household Goods Quality Labeling Law (Kateiyōhin Hinshitsu Hyōji Hō) requires Japanese-language labels specifying fibre composition, country of origin, care instructions (using JIS L 0217 symbols) and importer identification. The Act on Control of Household Products Containing Harmful Substances restricts formaldehyde and specified chemicals — formaldehyde testing to JIS L 1041 is effectively mandatory. Japanese department stores routinely require Eco-Mark or OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification; many premium retailers also require in-country lab retesting.
Commit Cycle
Japanese home-textile buyers commit AW ranges in February–March for August–September on-shelf delivery, and SS ranges in August–September for February delivery. Japan's principal sourcing events are the Tokyo International Gift Show (February and September, world's largest gift trade show) and Interior Lifestyle Tokyo (June). JAPANTEX (October, Tokyo) focuses on contract and commercial interiors. Japanese premium retail and hotel-group buyers attend Maison&Objet Paris and Heimtextil Frankfurt for European sourcing; the Delhi Fair draws a growing Japanese contingent under CEPA.
