India-made, OEKO-TEX & GOTS certified throws and blankets for Italian department stores, lifestyle chains and design-led home brands and hospitality buyers.
Trade Partner
Abhi Home has manufactured home textiles in India since 1965. We supply woven, quilted, printed and embroidered throws and blankets to Italy retailers, importers and hospitality groups under their own private-label programmes — from single-design repeat orders to 20-SKU seasonal ranges. Our facility is OEKO-TEX Standard 100, GOTS, GRS and BCI certified, and we hold Sedex, SA 8000 and BSCI social audits against the compliance frameworks typically required by Italian department stores, lifestyle chains, design-led home brands and hospitality buyers.

Italy Trade Logistics
We despatch out of Mundra and Nhava Sheva (JNPT), India's two largest container ports, with direct and transhipment sailings to Italy on Maersk, MSC, CMA CGM, ONE and Hapag-Lloyd services.
Genoa and La Spezia for northern and central DCs, Naples for southern distribution, and Livorno for Tuscany-region consolidation.
18–24 days ocean transit plus customs. Total order-to-DC lead time is typically 70–90 days from confirmation, depending on fabric development and sampling approval.
EU REACH & CE-compliant test reports, fibre composition labels per EU Textile Regulation 1007/2011, SEDEX SMETA audit reports and GOTS / OEKO-TEX certificates of compliance issued per shipment.
Italy Trade Intelligence
Beyond the generic sourcing process, successful India-to-Italy throws programmes hinge on four country-specific realities: the India–Italy shipping corridor, the duty and trade-agreement landscape, Italy-specific textile and product compliance, and Italy retailer commit cycles. Each is covered below.
Trade Lane
Direct sailings from Mundra and Nhava Sheva via the Suez Canal reach Genoa in 20–22 days — the shortest India-to-EU ocean transit on major lanes. La Spezia handles Tuscan and central-Italy cargo. Trieste is preferred for north-Italy, central European and Balkan onward distribution, with rail connections to Vienna, Munich and Budapest. Livorno handles leather and fashion adjacencies.
Duty & FTA
Throws and blankets classify under HS 6301.30 (cotton blankets and travelling rugs) and HS 6301.40 (synthetic blankets and travelling rugs). Italy imports under the EU Common Customs Tariff; the India–EU FTA is under negotiation but not yet in force. MFN duties on HS Chapter 63 home-textile lines apply. Italian import VAT (22%) — the highest standard VAT rate in the EU-27 — is levied on CIF value plus duty. Italian customs (Agenzia delle Dogane) strictly enforce classification on blended-fibre cushions; we provide detailed HS and composition breakdowns on every commercial invoice.
Compliance
EU REACH Regulation 1907/2006 governs SVHC and AZO-dye restrictions. EU Textile Labelling Regulation 1007/2011 mandates fibre-composition labels in Italian. Italy's Legislative Decree 194/1999 governs fibre-composition disclosure and country-of-origin marking; Made in Italy claims are closely regulated and cannot be used for Indian-origin product. Upholstery and filled cushions for hospitality and contract channels must meet UNI EN 1021-1/2 (cigarette and match tests). We provide OEKO-TEX Standard 100, GOTS and Sedex SMETA documentation per shipment to support Italian retailer compliance.
Commit Cycle
Italian home-textile buyers commit AW ranges in late January for August on-shelf delivery and SS ranges in August–September for February delivery. Italian high-end lifestyle and design-led retailers attend HOMI Milano (January and September), the principal Italian home-lifestyle trade show. Salone del Mobile Milano (April) draws contract-hospitality and high-end residential buyers — a key window for design-led Indian suppliers to present custom capability. Proposte Cernobbio (May) is the Italian fabrics-for-furnishing preview attended by the major Italian furniture houses and hospitality groups.
